Protestors rally against police brutality
Jun, 15 2006 - 12:40 AM

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - A group called United Against Police Violence hopes their demostration will not fall on deaf ears.

As international police chiefs gather at a downtown Vancouver hotel for a conference, protestors gathered outside, yelling and holding signs that read, "police abuse innocent people."

Protestor Lily Loncar says she's been a victim of police brutality and had to get medical attention because of it, "Do you think someone should have to go to physiotherapy for eight weeks and have their shoulder twisted up and around from behind them for a protest, for the legal right to speak? This is a free country, we have the legal right to speak, supposedly."

Police surrounded each entrance and driveway of the hotel, but the demonstration was peaceful.
